Corregidor

Discover Corregidor! Know your history

My friends and I went to the historical island of corregidor last July 29 and had a great time.

I have always wanted to visit that island but whenever I ask people to join me, most of them decline. Probably they are just not fans of Philippine history. Hehehe. And so after a few years of attempts, I was able to step on this magical, eerie, historical place.

A few weeks before our trip, I contacted a friend of mine who works for a travel agency. I would have opted to go to Sun Cruises (the sole owners of ferry boats, hotel and tour guides of Corregidor), but that would mean exerting more effort in getting tickets. And working during the night shift was a problem when it comes to schedule.

We booked a day-tour package for Php 1,900+ inclusive of ferry boat fee, buffet lunch, guided tour, insurance and service charge.

We left Manila at 8:00AM with several international and local tourists. The ferry can take as much as 200+ passengers for both low and upper decks. The ferry crew were all helpful and nice.

The view of Manila Bay could have been wonderful if not for all those garbage floating. Eeeww!

The weather was spectacular that day! The sun was shining and everyone had a good time seeing the ruins and taking pictures. Our tour guide, Mang Pol, was sooo funny and he always referred to my group as "magagandang dalaga". Hahaha! We just had one remark though, Mang Pol is telling the WWII history with so much energy but it all boiled down to the Americans as the heroes of the tale. Asan ang mga pinoy sa istorya??

I would not recommend the Malinta Tunnel experience. It's an optional part of the package and honestly, IT'S NOT WORTH IT!! So better not try that.

For the buffet, hmmm.. there was enough food but we had only limited time to eat. Sheez!

Overall, the day tour was short. We had limited time to take pictures. But doing it on an overnight would be too much.

My rating? 4 stars out of 10.
