Every year I spend my birthday different from the usual days. I am not fond of parties so don’t expect me to be throwing one.
Matet took the liberty of asking the people inside the HR room to provide what was needed. Thanks Matet for organizing my party!
We had cakes, ice creams, pancit, pork barbecue, lumpiang shanghai, tuna pasta, crispy pata, mango float, and coke. Fiesta!
My ever sweet loving boyfriend gave me a wonderful necklace teamed up by a very heart warming birthday card. He also gave a cute and very big cuddly teddy bear.
Poohpooh, for short. Si Charlie, pinangalanan nyang Bugoy. Yung kay Jundee, Burgos. At yung kay Gelay, Basha.
Since Joseph and I were scheduled for compensatory off on my birthday, he planned our trip. It was his way of treating his beautiful princess. Naks. I love him!
We first went to Binondo Church and thanked God for my life and all the blessings He has given us. The church was so beautiful with paintings on the ceiling like Sistine Chapel.
Then we went to Ongpin to find a place to eat. I have been begging my boyfriend for weeks to take me to a Shabu-Shabu since I have never eaten there. We had a hard time looking for one in Chinatown since the restaurants that used to be there were changed to banks and other stores. Luckily, Joseph was able to see Mandarine Restaurant on Ongpin Street that offers Shabu-Shabu.
The place looked like a typical Chinese restaurant which caters for wedding and other events. The usual chandeliers, Chinese fortune items, and aquariums were present. We were the only guests at that time.
Walang class man lang yung mantle na ginamit. And the table was big enough for the two of us. Oh well.
For our drinks, we ordered mango shake and four seasons.
Isa akong makakalimutin. LOL. Masarap silang lahat. Sabi nung waitress, good for two daw yun pero sa sobrang dami nya, kakasya ang apat na tao sa pagkain. Palagi na lang kami nadadali sa mga sinasabi nila na good for two, laging good for more than two naman ang servings. Busog na busog tuloy kami.
And then, the Shabu-Shabu.
I was surprised that they just placed a portable gas range on top of the table. I was expecting that Shabu-Shabu would mean a stove built at the center of the table just like what you see in Japanese TV shows. Moreover, I thought Shabu-Shabu would mean frying of food. I was wrong. My boyfriend told me that back in his childhood, Shabu-Shabu would be like cooking fishballs and the like at the table. We were both disappointed.
To top it all, the dish that was in our Shabu-Shabu smelled and tasted bad. I am not used to that kind of cooking.
We then went to MOA to figure skate.
It was cool to check for our shoe sizes by placing our foot at the size chart. I took a pair of 4.5 skating shoes. Joseph took one which was bigger. He had it replaced twice.
The rink was big and there was enough space for everyone to go around. There were teenagers, kids and trainers. Two little boys were fond of Joseph. I think they are brothers.
It was pretty devastating that the kids who were there were really good at skating. Joseph could skate too! My big boyfriend can balance and skate and I can’t! Sheez. I slipped 3 times inside the rink. One drop was so bad, until now my butt hurts. Well, the last time I outbalanced was because of Joseph. We both fell. Ouch!
Mama prepared salad, pancit and bought me a cake. Wow. For the first time in years, my parents gave me a cake. Since the time I started working, I buy my own birthday cake. Getting a cake from my parents made me feel like a child again. I love it!
My birthday was a blast! I spent it with the people I love. I am so grateful :)
